On June 17th, the Institute for Health System Transformation and Sustainability hosted a momentous dialogue session, bringing together 75 stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to address the pressing issue of "Reversing the Course of Type 2 Diabetes." With representatives from Public Health, Policy, Research, Academics, Clinical Management, and Patients, the room was filled with expertise and passion for finding solutions. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes has reached alarming levels, calling for a multi-sectorial approach to tackle this complex challenge. Throughout the session, participants emphasized the significance of addressing type 2 diabetes through a population health and equity lens, advocating for robust public policy and recognizing the possibility of remission and reversal of this condition.
The session was thoughtfully designed to foster open dialogue, allowing experts and thought leaders to set the course for the next steps in combatting type 2 diabetes. Four key objectives were identified to guide the discussions: sharing emerging and leading practices, identifying opportunities for system transformation, building connections between stakeholders, and exploring collaboration through a network of stakeholders. The event marked a pivotal moment in the fight against type 2 diabetes, paving the way for transformative action and united efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected.
